This is Kobi's desk I did. He has sports in his room. I hand painted the sport balls on the desk. I wish I would have taken a before picture. I have been busy. The bedroom is painted as well. Now it's time to enjoy K.C's break. Posted by Picasa

One last angle. Xayla's room is decorated with fairies. I think I did a good job:) Posted by Picasa

What I did! It was a lot of work, but it made me proud. Posted by Picasa

Update

Just a quick update on life:
K.C. has a break this week. Yes!

Kobi: Was at Jo Mackey. It was not all I thought it was cut out to be. We will just say he went to school for 1 day, then he was back at Iverson. Iverson is year round now, so he is on track one and will not start until Sept. 18th.

Xayla: She can now say shoe, baby, and eye. It is so cute.

Me: I haven't blogged in a long time because I felt like I was not getting enough done in one day so I started projects at the house. I repainted Kobi's desk blue and put sport balls on it. His room is decorated with a sport theme. I will have to post pictures later. I repainted Xayla's dresser white from brown and put fairies and knobs on it. I am proud of myself. It was a lot of work. Now I am going to paint my bedroom. Then, I am done with projects for a while. My sister tells me my bloggs are boring (I love my honest sister.), but I think boring is sometimes great because that means not a lot of drama in my life :). Well, I will post more later. Hopefully, some exciting things :).

Thankful

I am so proud of Kobi. Yesterday he was playing with one of his friends, and when I picked him up he said "Mom, I taught Weston something today."
I said, "You did. What was that?"
He said, "He has a friend named Christian that goes to church too, and Weston doesn't go to church, and we told him not to say bad words. We told them that every time he says a bad word, it is a sin, and Heavenly Father does not like sins."
I said, "That is such a good job. I am so proud of you." Then I explained how he was being a leader and not a follower. I explained how he did such a good job.
Kobi said, "And once Weston said a bad word, but then he zipped his lips and said he was sorry and wouldn't say it again."
This just made me so happy because it made me feel like I am teaching him good stuff. :). He is such a good boy. I have been truly blessed with 2 of the best children ever.
Xayla just loves to listen to music and dance. I love when she just pulls on my leg because she wants me to hold her.

I should not complain about my family or really anything going on in my life because I have been truly blessed with a happy marriage and home. I am thankful.

Summer cleaning?

What has been going on? Well, I haven't been on the computer because I had the crazy idea that I needed to be more productive, so I decided to paint my office. What a pain in the neck that was. I had my friend come over, Sharon, to help me with colors (because I am not very good at that) then, she wanted to help me dejunk. I love her because she is very honest. We threw so much stuff away. I can not believe how much crap I had! It is funny because I save EVERYTHING! I think one day I will need it or one day I am going to scrapbook this. My friend was like one day nothing and was throwing things away like crazy. I am so glad because now I can actually see my office. It was a MESS before. I should have took before and after pictures. Once I got started I couldn't stop. I have been going through my whole house dejunking. I can't believe how much "stuff" I accumulated. I am already feeling much better with less junk.

On another note, K.C.'s birthday was on Sunday. he turned 27 years young :). I did not do anything special. I kind of feel bad. He is so sweet because he never expects anything. One day I want to do something Grand for him because he desires it and he will never know it's coming.

Kids are doing great. Xayla is starting to say "by-by" now. It is so cute. My whole mood is different this week. I have been loving staying at home. Kobi tells me tons of times a day that he loves me. Xayla cries if I have to leave anywhere. I just love my kids and my role in this point of my life. My role right now is as a wife and a mother. This is a great role. I am enjoying trying to work towards being the best wife and mother that I can be. I have a long ways to go :). My cooking is getting better. I am going to try Candace's bread this week. I dejunked my pantry this week as well. I love walking in the pantry and actually seeing what I have in it. Before, I would just buy more stuff because I had no idea what was is my pantry because it was a mess. Well, I am getting tired. Nothing else real exciting this way. K.C. has a week vacation the first week of Sept. I am excited. We are going to Utah to visit some of his family.

My confused crazy head

I just need some input from some of you. You can go ahead and say what you want. I don't know what my problem is. I have such a wonderful husband and family, but when I hear of career advancements or "wonderful opportunities" in the work force I always wonder "what if". I currently only work about 1 night a week, so I am not away from the kids very long at all. Then, I just got a phone call from my Pediatrician's office asking me if I would like to work part-time as a Nurse Practitioner. I think of the great pay, and I actually will use my skills I was trained to do, but this will take time away from my family because it's during the day. My husband already said no and I agree, but I feel like "Well, I am not even using what I was trained to do." "My brain is going to mush because I am forgetting everything I learned as a Nurse Practitioner." Then, I get an e-mail from a friend that is a Nurse Practitioner, and she was telling me how she passed her boards, she loves her job, life is wonderful, etc. She has no kids and is divorced. She is in a much different situation than me, but I started to feel like I have "waisted my career".

On another note I look at my kids as they long for me attention. Who is going to give them the constant attention I give them (Xayla is sleeping now and Kobi is with a friend so they are not needing attention right now while I blog :)) as they just almost cling to my leg for me to play with them? Who is going to sit down and do homework with Kobi and give him stickers when he does a good job? Who is going to look at Xayla sitting next to me on the couch with her arms behind her head kicked back like a princess? Only I will think that is the cutest thing.

I know what is right in life, I just don't know why sometimes I feel that I have to pursue a "career".

I have to keep my priorities in check and think of the eternal perspective. I am calling the Dr's office now to tell them that I will not be working for them. I hate when I get in these moods. It seems so easy.

Why am I so crazy at times? :)

You great mothers out there please put me in check! I need it! Dr Laura would rip my head off right now :).

Kobi's Birthday Weekend

What's going on around here? Well, Kobi turned 7 years old on July 28th. We had a birthday party for him on Saturday. It was a pool party. It was a lot of fun. I will post pictures later because I am at work, and I don't have the pictures on me. Before we talk about the party, it's time for some more Kobi stuff. He is just a funny boy. I took him to Target with me to buy some stuff, and I asked him what he liked. I ended up buying some of his birthday presents in front of him. I wrapped it up and still gave it to him at his party, but he said to me after I wrapped them up "Mom, presents are supposed to be a surprise. Next time, don't buy it in from tof me. That is unacceptable." Except he said it "unexeptable" I said, "You are right, that is unacceptable." I had to laugh.
At his party, he had a friend with him. His friend Tre said "Kobi are you done swimming?" He said "Yes, now I am going to tan for a little while." Tan? I think he is the last person that needs to tan. :)
Friday, we went out to dinner with one of my best friends, Rebecca. She bought Kobi a present. I was kind of embarrassed because she bought him a really cute outfit, and sometimes kids don't have manners. I am thankful for learning opportunities. Well, he opened it and said something like "Clothes, that's it?" I felt so bad. I had to have a talk with him. It was a great learning opportunity. I am glad we were able to talk about it then because his party was on Sat. I would have felt even worse if it had happened on Sat. He learned a great lesson of appreciation that day.
Then, we watched "Ant Bully". This was such a cute movie! Really funny.
Sat. we had Kobi's pool party. It was so fun. We had a barbecue, we swam, and we had a pinata. Kobi was really appreciative.
Xayla found out she could walk backwards. She is so cute and hugs everything. She is trying so hard to talk. We are introducing her to the potty. We are trying to wave "bye-bye" to the "pee-pee". I am just getting her used to the small potty. We are taking it really slow.
K.C. and I have been spending a lot of time together. It has been great, but I know finals are coming up soon. I won't be seeing him much then.
Things are going pretty good this way. That's really about it!

Family Time

Went to a Church Fair on Saturday night. We didn't even hear about it in our Ward, but K.C. heard about it from his Dental Students. I will have to post pictures later. It was fun. It was neat because I saw a lot of my old friends from the singles Ward. Kobi just wanted to go on everything over and over again. He didn't want us to stop and talk to anyone. Xayla was going around grabbing everyone's food and candy. It was funny. We bought her a child harness. We love it. She doesn't so much. I kind of feel bad because she is on a leash, but she has ran places she shouldn't run. So, better safe than sorry.
Kobi is starting to like football. I am glad the season is almost over. It was too hot to do over the summer.

Anything new?

K.C. and I same o same o. We are thinking about getting some concrete in our backyard. I just get so nervous with spending any money right now. We'll see. I have been working out 3 times a week on a regular basis. It has felt really good. I guess it doesn't help that I am eating M&Ms right now. :)

Kobi started changing Xayla's diapers lately! He just has been doing it on his own. Last week he asked me if he could get Xayla out of her crib. I told him he could. I went to check on them, and Xayla was dry. She is usually always wet after a nap. I asked Kobi, did you change her diaper. He said "Oh yeah. It was no problem. It had poop in it too, but I had no problem." I immediately checked her and he actually did a REALLY good job. It is kind of funny. He has changed her on his own several times since then. It's cute.
We have been doing really well with homework. I am so proud of his progress. He also said the funniest/sneakiest thing the other day. He kept writing messy, and I kept telling him it wasn't a race and he needed to take the time to write neater. He then says to me "Heavenly Father made me this way. He made me with this handwriting. He would be very sad if he knew that you were trying to change me." I said "Yeah right boy. I know how Heavenly Father made you, and I have seen much neater handwriting. Now write how Heavenly Father made you to write." He kind of chuckled. He wanted me to say "Oh Kobi, you are right. Keep writing the way Heavenly Father made you to write." I don't think so. He is getting so sneaky.

Xayla is still trying to be so bossy. She has lots of attitude. She keep getting more teeth. She goes from being a good eater to being picky. She loves to play peek-a-boo. She is just so cute. I see her becoming this little girl now. I almost want another one. I know I am crazy. We are waiting until K.C.'s 4th year. He is starting his 2nd now. Time will pass.

Nothing else really new and exciting this way. It has been SOOOOO hot. The other day we had a small thunderstorm. K.C. and I actually went outside and sat on our bench to watch the storm. It was neat.

What's going on?

K.C. and I went to Rascal Flats last night. It was fun. I love going on dates. I will have to post pictures later. I am working tonight.

Kobi is Kobi. He says the funniest things. I was going through his closet yesterday because I was looking at what clothes he had that could be used for his school uniform. I found this hideous outfit my mother bought him a while ago. I will have to post the picture later. The outfit consists of green shorts and this green and white striped shirt. It is just ugly. Anyway, I told him, "We need to DI this (basically donate it)." He stated, "No Mom, we can't do that. I need to save it for a special occasion like...Prom." I just had to laugh. I just said "What do you know about prom?"
He also said the other day "Mom, we need to get a pool so that I never have to take a bath again."

Xayla is cute as ever. She still fights with her brother.

I tried to make a pie yesterday. It sounded so good. It was this strawberry pie. Well, I worked so hard in making it. There was a lot of "let it sit in the fridge for 3 hours". So, it took a long time to make. Well, I thought I was so smart and cool that I would save time by buying the pie crust instead of making it. I made the pie yesterday, and today I wanted to take it over to the in-laws, but I wanted to test it out first. I cut into the pie and thought something's strange? I realized I did not bake the pie crust first! I was supposed to bake the pie crust first. Then, put everything in it. Then, let it sit for hours in the fridge. Silly me. I will work on my cooking skills. I ended up baking a new pie crust, taking everything out of the old pie and putting it in the new one. It turned out pretty good. I just think the recipe calls for too much lime.

Nothing else really going on around here.

Found some cool quotes I thought I would post:
Bill Cosby : "Human beings are the only creatures that allow their children to come back home." :)

Elizabeth Stone "Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body."

"There's nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child."

"Nothing you do for children is ever wasted. They seem not to notice us, hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted."

"How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these."

"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One is roots; the other, wings."

"For nothing is fixed, forever and forever and forever, it is not fixed; the earth is always shifting, the light is always changing, the sea does not cease to grind down rock. Generations do not cease to be born, and we are responsible to them because we are the only witnesses they have. The sea rises, the light fails, lovers cling to each other, and children cling to us. The moment we cease to hold each other, the sea engulfs us and the light goes out."

Chaparral High School class of 2006 reunion

What can I say about the reunion? It was a lot of fun. I was kind of nervous about really not knowing too many people at the reunion, but I actually new quiet a bit of people. Mostly everyone looked the same (which I guess is a good thing). Let's start from the beginning:
My sister-in-law, Eryn, came over to do my hair (she is a hair-dresser) and help me with my make-up. It was fun getting all dolled-up. I don't get to do that much nowadays. I'm usually in work-out clothes because I am going to the gym or cleaning my house. Then, off to Sam's Town we went.
When we first got there, there were a few people I recognized, but I forgot their name. There were also acquaintances that I knew of from my class, but I wasn't sure if they remembered me. So at first I was kind of timid about going up to people and just talking to them, but by the end of the night, I just went up to anyone and spoke with them. I liked getting out of my comfort zone and just speaking with anyone. It seemed that everyone was willing to talk to you, they were just waiting for someone else to say something first. There were about 100 people that attended.
The food was gross. I expected a lot more for what we paid per person. I didn't even have all of my silverware. The guy that was waiting on us didn't speak much English and he just handed me someone else's' (Jason Abbott's) silverware from our table. I thought it was funny. I gave Jason back his silverware and shared with my husband. I heard there was also an activity at a Road Runner the night before because so many people wasn't going to attend the actual reunion. An e-mail was supposed to be sent out, but I never received it.
Jennifer Larson(now she is married and has a new last name) got the award for changing the least.
Rachel Smith (Now has a new last name) received the award for the most kids (4 boys)
And someone has been married for 9.5 years. (I forgot their names)
Most of the people I really hung around did not attend. There were a few people that I hung around a lot that did attend, but it was funny to see how different our lives had turned out. My life has truly changed since I became LDS. My priorities have changed as well. I used to think it was so important to have a wonderful career, but now I realize family is more important. My perspective on a lot of things have changed since I became LDS. I spoke with a lot of LDS people at the reunion. They were so excited that I became LDS. I used to think I was so different from the LDS people in my classes at Chaparral. It is funny to see now 10 years later that we are not so different.
K.C. met a guy, John Black, that is a distant relative of his. They talked for hours about UNLV sports. This made it easy for me to go and mingle and dance. I love how my husband can entertain himself no matter where we are. He is just a friendly person. I was even ready to leave the reunion when I could not find my husband. He wasn't at the table that we were sitting at. I assumed he was outside of the room that we were in, but when I went looking for him, he was talking to some of my High School friends still. I was thinking "Who's reunion is this?" It was funny.
A crazy situation did happen at the reunion. A guy came up to me and told me he was Linda's (my little sister) first love. It was funny because I vaguely remembered him. He told me he has been looking for Linda for years. Then, I found out his wife was at the reunion with him! It was a crazy situation. I told Linda about it, she barely remembered him as well. She is better off. She is doing really well now in New York.
All in all, I am very happy the way my life has turned out over the last 10 years. I think I will try and keep in more contact with some of my fellow classmates. I'll just really get to know them 10 years later.
Oh, one more thing (Chanel, they played a video of our high school class. There was one big picture of you in it. It was cute.)
