So what else has been going on in my life?

Just taking care of these two mostly. I am still teaching the Vaient 11 year old girs. I only have 2 girls that I teach. They are so cute. I am also teaching full-time at CCSN in the Nursing Department. I was REALLY busy grading a lot of papers, so I had limited time to blog, but it has gotten better. I feel blessed that I have a job that I enjoy, I get payed well, but I am at home a lot. I was so nervous in starting this position, but I have really enjoyed my students. I still want to be able to stay home when K.C. is done with school. I might teach one clinical to keep my skills up, but I want to be at home when the children are little.

Some of my future plans are to teach again full-time when the kids are older.
I want to be fluent in Spanish.
I want to take some dance classes (ballroom, hip-hop, latin, or whatever). If I could come back to life and choose another career, it would be to be a professional dancer. I think it is amazing how people can speak through body language.

So, just some random thoughts. I am excited about Xayla's birthday on Thursday. She is becoming such a big girl. She is really into cats lately. She says "Now" when she is trying to say "Meow". It is so cute. "Go away" and "Stop it" are her other favorite words.

Kobi said the funniest thing yesterday (you can't tell K.C. if you see him). He has been stressed because he has an exam everyday this week. Yesterday he ditched part of church to go to the library to study. Kobi is going to be 8 years old this year and will be getting baptized. Well, Kobi said after church "Where is Dad?"
I told him, "He went to the library to study."
He said, "Does that mean he has the Devil in him? Because if he has the Devil in him, then he is not baptizing me. You know I am getting baptized this year. I won't let him baptize me if he has the Devil in him." It was so funny. I had to tease K.C. after I told him what Kobi said. Now I ask him sometimes "Do you have the Devil in you?" He laughs. He does feel really guilty for not staying for church since his son has his eyes on him!

I will try to blog more often!

Backyard

We are alos getting ready to get our backyard done. We are not sure exactly what we are going to do with it. I think we are going simple with artificial gradd in the center, trees to the back of our yard, and plants on both sides of our yard. We know that we are moving out of this area when K.C. is done with school, (The schools on this side of town are going down hill.) so we do not want to put in a lot of money in our backyard. I do want a place for the kids to play. It will be our 1st backyard since we have been married! Artificial grass is expensive, but K.C. does not have time to maintain the lawn and I do not want to. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Otherise, I will show you pictures after we get it done!

Office disaster under control I think

OK. So this is what my office looked like before I started organizing. This is why it took a month :). I also had to get stuff together for tax time.

Here are some pictures after:

Let me tell you. This thing is your best friend! I love to label everything now. It makes things fun. Kobi likes it as well.

I bought a couple of these to hold stuff in the drawers. Still probably not the neatest. but better than before.

I can see my computer!

I organized my bins in the closet. They have color paper in it, crayons, glue, hot gun glue, computer discs, my camera, film, flashcards, and more. I also made a bin for each person in our family. This is where I put pictures that one day I will scrapbook. This gave me an opportunity to organize my pictures.

I had stickers everywhere for scrapbooking, but I never really knew what I had because it was disorganized. I bought this little thing at Walmart in the fishing area. It is supposed to be for fishing stuff. I am using it for stickers and crafts (ex. beads). Now I feel like I know what kinds of stickers I have (ex. Christmas, Valentines, Halloween, etc.). I also put stamps in here. I put my large stickers in one of the bins that I showed earlier, and YES, I labeled everything!

I placed scrapbooks and photo albums on the top shelf of my "craft" closet in my office.

I bought these little holders a while ago, but I am not sure what I am going to do with them yet. I was going to use it to hold crafts, but I am not sure yet. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS. I saw someone hang one of these over her door in the pantry. She used it to hold packages of things. We'll see. I am willing to take suggestions.

Last but not least, I went through and threw away any papers that I didn't need. I filed everything else. I plan on going through my files every 6 months-1 year to see if there is anything I can throw away. I also filed papers that I want to scrapbook someday. I have a file for each one of us in the family. I also have files for all of our tax stuff.

More than anything, it just feels good to know where everything is. I love it! I also bought a junk organizer tray from Target. It was neat because it has little bins for your batteries, bolts, nails, rubberband, just things you are looking to put somewhere. I also bought spice racks and are using them in one of my cabinets in the kitchen as our medicine cabinet. I was sick of buying more medication (which is expensive) because I could not find something in the medicine cabinet. Now I can actually see all of the medications! I threw out the expired ones as well. I did not take a picture of it, but I should have taken before and after shots. I love it. Thank you Jodie for getting me motivated!

What has been going on in my life?

This little one is turning 2 on Thursday, 03-01-07. I can't believe it!

Went to NBA Jams session on 02-17-07. It was a lot of fun, but it was crowded! Well, my husband is calling me to go to bed, so I will finish blogging the rest of my month tomorrow. I will also post before and after pictures of my office!

Xayla and Kobi in Las Vegas "snow"

Jodie, where did you get your URL address? Is that how you uploaded the video? I think it is neat to be able to upload videos. I had to really play with this to upload it. I first uploaded it twice using the address from the my space site where you would send an e-mail or add it to your profile if that makes any sense. Just wondering if you knew the easy way to upload videos. Thanks!
Also, I just played my video and saw that other pop-up links show to other videos. Some not so nice. I do not know how to remove that. Sorry. Just view my video only.
It was snowing for Xayla and Kobi

Add to My Profile

I saw Jodie's blog and thought I would try and post a video clip. We were at K.C.'s parents house and K.C.'s brother-in-law, Scoot, threw some foam on the kids. They loved it. They thought it was snowing.

Office

Just been working on the organizing office. Wish me luck. Jodie gave me some great tips from an Oprah site http://www.oprah.com/foodhome/home/housekeeping/print/home_print_200409_chart.jhtml

10 things you don't know about your body, fat and dieting

I read this in a Costco magazine from Dr Mehmet Oz and Dr Michael Roizen. They are on Oprah sometimes.
1. Healthy, monogamous sex is one of the things that can help control your appetite.
2. Your belly has an organ called the omentum that specifically stores most of your belly fat and is the source of toxic material that can inflame your liver and affect your metabolism.
3. Massage us a weight-loss technique. Physical touch increases your body's oxytocin level, which helps control appetite.
4. Food is processed in the intestines, not the stomach,
5. The scent of grapefruit oil helps control appetite.
6. Liposuction in not a weight-loss technique; the average weight loss after liposuction is 10 pounds (The procedure can be effective for body sculpting.)
7. Periodic extreme stress does not make you gain weight; chronic stress does.
8. Video games have been shown to help people lose weight. One reason: They help keep your hands out of the bowl of M&Ms.
9. Fat in food is not automatically stored as fat. All excess calories- no matter if they're protein, carbohydrates or fat- can be stored as fat.
10. Some weight-loss drugs being developed are using the body's reaction to drugs such as marijuana and cocaine to explore the science of hunger and satiety.
